Why Your Workouts Aren’t Hitting… and What to Do About It
The Missing Focus in Most Workouts? Coordination.
When I first started training people, I thought strength was everything. Lift heavier. Do more reps. Hustle harder. Push through the pain… I mean, no pain, no gain, right?!
WRONG.
Here’s what I learned the hard way—strength without coordination is like having a sports car with no steering wheel. You can have all the horsepower in the world, but if you can’t control it, you’re going to crash.
As a PT student and functional fitness coach, I see it everywhere. People aren’t weak—they’re just not connected. That’s why I’m building my functional fitness protocol.
You might be thinking, “Kayla, why does that even matter?” Because here’s the chain reaction I see all the time: muscles adapt to the intensity you put on them—until that demand exceeds their capacity. Then weakness creeps in. Weakness turns into fatigue. Fatigue turns into injury. And injury? That’s pain. And you think someone’s going to stay consistent with their workouts when they’re in pain?
Yeah, try again.
To stop that domino effect, you need one thing: your brain and body speaking the same language. In other words—coordinated movement patterns.
Honestly? This pillar is the most overlooked skill in the personal training world.
If you want to train someone effectively, you need to:
Know the biomechanics behind fundamental lifts and movements.
Master pattern recognition so you can spot dysfunction and fix it on the spot.
Educate your clients so they can self-correct when you’re not there 24/7.
That’s where we start.
In this paid subscriber section of the newsletter, we’re diving into sharp biomechanical assessment skills that help people move better with pain-free patterns—not just grind harder.
So… let’s get into it. xoxoxo 💪✨
